What does Alhamdulillah mean?

Alhamdulillah is an Arabic phrase meaning "praise be to God", sometimes translated as "thank God". It is a reminder that we have many thinks to be grateful for.

When Muslims recite each of their five daily prayers, they begin by saying "Alhamdulillah" and continue with the verse of Suratul Fatiha from the Quran, the sacred scripture. You can learn more about the pillar of prayer in our Islamic Faith Gallery.

Learn how to count your blessings in this creative workshop by making your own Alhamdulillah hands listing everything you're thankful for. The activity makes a great Ramadan reminder for children.

Each participant will get to take their Alhamdulillah hands home.
